Story Telling Time

As I write this article it is the beginning of November. It’s so early that the sun has not yet risen. I’m awake and searching for words because I lost a dear friend yesterday. He was a vibrant man with a charming smile whose poor body was tired and worn from a short, unexpected illness. His name was George Kingsley Buckham. After 76 years on this earth, he not only fulfilled but exceeded every dream he ever had. I’m proud to be one of his grandchildren.

Imagine George reclined in his chair in his old peaceful farm home. He’s next to his crackling wood burning stove; his large, calloused hands intertwined in his lap. An old western is muted on the television, and his grandchildren gather around him while another batch of Christmas cookies bake in the oven. It is Story Telling Time.
